Juanita Mae Hartman, 94, passed peacefully on July 16, 2021 and joined Oscar, her life partner for 75 years, who passed away just 109 days ago. She was born on May 18, 1927 in Trotwood, Ohio to the late Jesse and Mary (Lindsey) Niswonger. She was a 1945 graduate of Brookville High School where she met the love of her life, Oscar Hartman. They were married in Brookville on October 20, 1945 while he was home on leave from the Navy shortly after the end of WW II. Upon discharge from the Navy in 1946, they resettled back in Brookville. Oscar’s career took them to Celina, Ohio in 1950 and eventually to Marion, Ohio in 1963.
Juanita worked for General Telephone Company in Marion for 19 years and retired in 1984. She loved cats, reading books, playing cards, lunching with friends, golfing, traveling with Oscar (especially to Myrtle Beach), and watching golf and the Cincinnati Reds on TV. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Marion. But her main passion in life was her family – she was the hub of their family wheel!
She is survived by her loving sons Douglas (Rebecca) of Pebble Beach, CA and Randall (Cathy) of Marion, as well as grandsons Anthony, Benjamin, and Aaron, four great grandchildren, and step-grandchildren Jason Daiber and Julie Daiber McNamara. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Oscar of 75 years, and her grandson Christopher.
Her family wishes to thank the staff of Primrose Retirement Community in Marion, ProMedica/Heartland Manor Care, and OhioHealth Hospice. Visitation is at Boyd-Born Funeral Home in Marion on Wednesday July 21, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., with graveside services at 1:30 p.m. at the Marion Cemetery to be officiated by Deacon Kevin Kehn
