Judith Ann Hickok

Judith Ann Hickok, 81, of Marion, OH, passed away at her residence on June 19, 2025. Born November 19, 1943, to her late parents, Charles Edward Eckard and Olive Evangeline (England) Eckard. Judy married the love of her life, Ronald Gene Hickok on August 1st, 1973. Ron preceded her in death on Oct. 8th, 1995.

Judy worked as a custodial 2 for the Marion City Schools for 27 years before retiring. She was a woman of faith and very strong willed. These traits would help her, and a small group of mothers, to change the organization, “Baseball for Boys”, into , “Baseball for Youth”. She loved to play ball, and wanted her daughter to have better opportunities. This led to her being the first girl’s player agent at Lincoln Park in the 70’s. Judy was an organizer on all accounts. From being the glue of the family to planning out family events like family reunions. Judy and her niece, Jenny Shoffner who has preceded her in death, organized the Eckard-England-Long-McKnight Reunion for several memorable years.

Judith is preceded in death by her brothers of whom she spoke on visiting her in her last days, Warren “Dub” Eckard, Merle Dale Eckard, Charles “Buzz” Edward Eckard, Jr., Robert Gene Eckard, and Thomas Leroy Eckard, her sisters, Grace Imogen Eckard, Evelyn Mae Felty, Eva Delores Williams, Betty June Shelton, Phyllis “Cit” Dawson, Karen Sue Eckard, Virginia Ruth Eckard, and Mary Elizabeth Eckard.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Mario) Amesquita. Her grandchildren Tiffany (Alberto), Grace Kyser, and Jared Kyser. Her great grandchildren, Xavi Calvillo-Kyser, and Lesli Calvillo-Kyser. Her brother, Richard “Dick” A. (Jean) Eckard,sister in law Worletta (Jacks) Eckard. Her great nephew James Shoffner,and great nieces Shannon (Shawn) Richardson, Valerie (Donovan) Hitchings, Carrie (Juan) Gonzalez, and Amber (Chris) Riser. Her great - great nieces and nephews, Annie Shoffner, Diamond Turner, Ayanna Turner,Layla Gonzalez, Darian Richardson, Zoe Hitchings, Bryan Richardson, LaShaun Richardson, Marisol (Lil’ Mare) Gonzalez, Huck Hitchings. And so many more nieces and nephews and tons of greats.

The family of Judy would like to invite her loved ones and friends to the Boyd Funeral Home for calling hours on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral service will start at 1 p.m. at the Boyd Funeral Home. There will be a procession to the La Rue Cemetery immediately following the funeral service, where the interment service will take place. After the funeral Dick Eckard has invited everyone to have a potluck at his house in the backyard, 490 Edgefield Dr. Marion, Ohio. Please bring something to sit on and a dish if you can. Judy really loved to have everyone together, and her brother wants to bring everyone together once more for her.
