Judy (Dillinger) (Smiley) LeVeck Obituary

Judy Lorraine (Dillinger) (Smiley) LeVeck, 80, formerly of Marion, Ohio, passed away Tuesday May 25, 2021.

She was born October 7, 1940 in Wellston, Ohio, the daughter of Ken and Hazel (Radcliff) Dillinger.

Judy graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1959.  Judy LeVeck loved and gave everything she had to her family. With two loving, dedicated husbands (Bob Smiley, married for 28 years; Ray LeVeck, married for 24 years), she learned to fish, feed the ducks in her backyard, and drove cross country in a van with husband Bob and her favorite sister-in-law and brother-in-law. And while she always said she took terrible pictures; we would like to remember the moments that she was too happy to even know one was being taken. Her favorite things included Christmas, Elvis, God, and us. She crocheted countless afghans and played cards with her friends often. When she got out of the house, she liked to eat at breakfast places like Bob Evans and Perkins. She attended live music events with her friends and children's plays with her granddaughter. And as all grandmas do, she thought her grandchildren were the light of the world, the best grandchildren ever. Complaining of back pain, she always slept in a recliner, leaving her bed to be stacked with Beanie Babies and other stuffed animals. She took pride in her appearance, having her hair and nails done regularly, and loving it. Judy was unabashedly silly: mispronouncing words on purpose for effect, burning most things she tried to cook, and endlessly giggling while playing cards with her friends or family. Judy LeVeck enjoyed the simple, comforting things. She should be remembered for her laugh and for her love of her family above all else.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Tim and Susan Smiley; daughter and son-in-law Angela (Smiley) and Dan Price; granddaughter Emily Price all of Miamisburg, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ray LeVeck (2016) and Robert Smiley (1989), brother Jerry Dillinger and sister JoAnne Ault.  A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Friday June 18, 2021 at the Boyd Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia Street, Marion.  Private burial will be held in Prospect Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Marion Area Humane Society, 2264 Richland Road, Marion, Ohio 43302
