Karen Linnae Baney, 58 of Green Camp, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Marion General Hospital surrounded by family.
She was born in Marion, Ohio on July 18th, 1963, to the late Danny K. and Judith A. (Chandler) Lust.
Karen was a graduate of Elgin Local Schools, class of 1981. On January 29, 1985, she married her loving husband, Robert Baney and together they had two children.
After briefly working at Whirlpool, Karen put herself through nursing school and graduated from Marion Technical College with her Associates Degree in Nursing. Always quick on her toes she found her nursing passion in the emergency department. After over 20 years in the nursing field, she retired to spend more time with her family.
Karen always had much love to give and was a notorious “fixer,” helping anyone she could. In her retirement she enjoyed shopping, traveling to sunny places, cooking, working in the yard, and going to auctions with her husband. She was a Hot Wheels enthusiast and avid collector. However, her favorite loves of all were her grandchildren, who know her as gig-gig.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Robert Baney; son Brandon (Darian) Baney, daughter Brittany (Spencer) Mathews and stepson Kyle (Heather) Baney; brothers Michael and Dan Lust; sisters Nancy Kearns and Jennifer (Keith) Bash; five grandchildren Teddy and Whitley Mathews and Tanner, Kirra, and Jasmyn Baney; dear friends Shina Cauthen and Vicki Delany; as well as many nieces and a nephew.
The family will hold a private graveside service, in the Green Camp Cemetery on Saturday, May 21st at 11 am. The family asks friends to please join them in celebrating Karen’s life at the Marion Country Club on Saturday, May 21st from 1-4.
