Kathleen Louise (Welch) Sparling

Kathleen Louise Sparling, age 97, passed away peacefully at the Wyndmoor of Marion on April 10, 2025. Born in October of 1927, to Everett and Agnes Welch, in Marion, Ohio, Kathleen went on to complete the 11th grade. She married the love of her life, Jack Sparling, in March of 1945, and they had 60 years together before his passing. She was always up for whatever life threw at her, moving from Medford, Oregon, in 1948 for her husband’s work. They moved back to Marion, Ohio, in 1968. She was an avid bowler for many years until her husband’s stroke, then she became his full-time caretaker. At the Marion Towers, she volunteered her time in the kitchen, at Bingo Night, and anything else they needed to keep herself busy. She was an amazing cook, but her most sought-after dish was her potato salad. 

Kathleen is proceeded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents, Everett and Agnes, her brothers, Jonny, Richard, Paul, Eugene, and Philip Welch, her sisters, Mary Helen and Agnes “Aggie” Welch, and her son, David Sparling.

She leaves behind her son, Steven (Bev) Sparling, her daughter, Gina (Donald) Warwick, her grandchildren, Eric (Amy) and Jill Sparling, Jack (Shannon) Warwick, her great grandchildren, Conner and Trenton Sparling, Ezra and Joshua Warwick.

Services will be held privately. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to care for the Sparling family in their time of need.
