Leo Thomas "Tom" Wood

Leo Thomas “Tom” Wood, 75, of Marion, OH, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was born at Marion General Hospital on Monday, August 1, 1949, to Leo Thomas Wood, Sr. and Ruth Marjorie (Landon) Wood.

Tom started working at age 16 as a busboy at the L & K Restaurant. During his time working at the L & K, many customers and coworkers recognized his dedication and strong work ethic, including John Baldauf, who after witnessing his hard work offered him a job working for Baldauf Construction as soon as he turned 18. He went on to work for Baldauf Construction Company for 50 years.

In addition to being a hard worker, Tom enjoyed playing cards, tinkering around in his garage, and going all out with his outdoor Christmas decorations during the holidays. He also loved being outdoors, planting flowers, mowing the yard, going fishing, and visiting the local parks where he would feed the squirrels. Most of all, he loved to spend quality time with his children and grandchildren making memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ruth Wood, and his sister, Marjorie (Wood) Persinger.

He is survived by his sister, Joyce (Bob) Ballinger; daughters, Angela (Bill Deiter) Clingenpeel, Rachel (Derrick Mulvey) Wood, Danielle (Alex) Stewart, Wendi (Bo) Hall; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Landon, Jay, Grace, Lillie, Evelyn, and one more grandchild on the way; many nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Bonnie Wood.

The family would like to invite Tom’s friends and loved ones for visitation hours at Boyd’s Funeral Home on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home. There will be a procession to the interment service at Prospect Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
