Linda L. Bowles

Linda L. Bowles, age 79 of Marion, passed away on September 19, 2021, at the Marion General Hospital.

Linda was born on August 5, 1942, to the late Ova B. and Gladys Louise (Applegate) Medley in Vanceburg, Lewis County, Kentucky. On May 6, 1978, she married the late Jerry Bowles of LaRue, Ohio.   

Linda worked for Tecumseh until the company closed its doors. After Tecumseh, she went to cosmetology school where she eventually owned and operated her own hair salon, Linda’s Lock Works for 23 years. Linda was an avid scrabble player who loved playing words with friends. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, square dancing, traveling and most importantly, she loved her family. Linda will truly be missed by family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters: Carolyn Horsley, Ruth Mofford and Betty Dunigan; and her brothers: Larry Medley, Gary Medley and Ron Medley.

Those who will cherish her memories include her daughters: Shelley (Don) Fyffe of Marion, Ohio, Christy Powers of Marion, Ohio and Becky Clarke of Caledonia, Ohio; her sons: Charles (Kay) Jones of Marion, Ohio and David (Oakley) Jones of Marion, Ohio; her grandchildren: Jason Diehl, Ashley McHugh, Mathew Hutchinson, Cody Jones, Tyler Jones, Caleb Jones, Seth Jones, and Shane Jones; and her many great grandchildren. 

Friends and family may come to honor Linda’s life on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 11am to 1pm at the Boyd Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow starting at 1pm at the funeral home.  Donations may be made in Linda’s memory to the American Cancer Society.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Bowles family.
