Linda Kay Spillman-Kear

Linda Kay Spillman-Kear, age 75, of Marion, passed away at the Marion General Hospital on October 12, 2025. Linda was born on June 20, 1950, to the late Jesse and Grace (Bibbee) Spillman. Linda earned her master’s degree in education and taught special education locally here in Marion, with her last school being Elgin. Linda also worked for several years for RHAM in Marion.

Linda loved attending church and was a proud partitioner of the Prospect Street United Methodist Church.  She also loved sending out Christmas cards during the holiday season. Linda was a reader and found great joy in reading “trashy” novels. She also enjoyed good food and would prepare food for the church when she was called upon to do so. Her love for Christ was always on display, and she not only enjoyed going to Bible Study but also sharing the gospel with the inmates at North Central Correction facility.

Left to cherish the memory of Linda are her son, Richard Kear, brother, John W. Spillman, sisters-in-law, Charlene Spillman, and Betty and Brenda Spillman, three grandchildren Bowen, Anna and Ricky Kear, three great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Larry and Jim Spillman and sister Helen Spillman.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation of Linda that will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 11am until 1pm at the prospect United Methodist Church with the Funeral Service Starting at 1pm. Pastors Josh Freshour and Joe Miller will be officiating. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Prospect St. United Methodist Church.
