Lloyd Garner Obituary

Lloyd E. Garner, of Marion, Ohio age 86 earned his wings from his Heavenly Father on Tuesday August 24, 2021, at Marion General Hospital, due to complications from Covid.

On October 15, 1934, he was born to the late Clyde Arthur and Freda Flossie (Locke) Garner in Hocking County, Ohio.

On October 13, 1956, he married Flora Ann Davis in Marion, Ohio and she survives.

Lloyd moved to Marion around the age of 15, living with his brothers and sisters. He was always a hard and dedicated worker. Worked at Tecumseh for 24 years till they closed, also working part time for the McCloud’s Exxon station for years. Was employed at Continental Hose in Upper Sandusky, then on to Glenwood Sun Range in Delaware, until they closed. His last place of employment was the best of all of them for him; custodian for the Marion City Schools.  He dearly loved that job, working there for 16 years. Retired at the age of 79 only because of back issues.

Dad loved to talk with people, he could always find something to share with someone. He taught himself at a young age how to play the guitar. His staple song was, " Pick me up on your way down"; check it out on you tube. Enjoyed a slice of pie over cake. Loved to grocery shop and then have lunch.

Pets and little kids always found their way to him and his gentle soul.  Loved watching sports, Browns, Indians, and the Buckeyes. The most important thing to dad was his family.  He would sacrifice anything for us, and he did. He will be so missed by all that knew and loved him. He surely missed the hills of home in southern Ohio. Also, Lloyd will be missed by his 4-legged pet, Tara.

He is survived by his boys: Tom (Karen) Garner, Morral, OH and Ted (Pam) Garner, LaRue, OH. His grandchildren: Tom Garner, LaRue, OH, Chandra (Adam) Thompson, Pickerington, OH, and Tim (Laura) Garner, Marion, OH, his great grandchildren: Liam and Presley Thompson, and Jackson Garner, sister Jean Morgan, Titusville, FL, and sisters-in-law, Sue Hawk and Sharon (Grey) Shockey, Marion, OH.

He was preceded in death by his grandson Trent Garner, brothers: Millard, Dana, and Eddie Mayse, and sisters: Velma Conley and JoAnne Hayden.

A member of the Grand Prairie Baptist Church. A special thanks to Dr McCleese for his caring support and the ICU nurses at Marion General Hospital, especially Angie.
