Marcella Joanne Vance, age 93, of Marion, went home to be with The Lord on July 12, 2025. On October 8, 1931, Marcella was born in Cleveland, OH, to the late, Charles Milar and Opal Milar (Hughes). Marcella married her husband, Charles Vance, on August 7, 1952. They celebrated 67 years together.
Marcella was a Harding High School graduate and worked at Stewart’s Root Beer Stand and the Woolworths Store, L&K Restaurant, and for many years for Ogden foods at Whirlpool cafeteria where she retired as a cook.
Marcella and her husband loved canning every year from their garden. She loved to cook and bake. Marcella was an avid roller skater in her younger years and enjoyed taking her kids. Marcella taught herself how to play the piano and organ by ear. This would lead her to becoming an organist in her church for many years. She also loved to crochet and do other crafts in her free time. Marcella was a loyal lifetime, Christian. She loved everyone and everyone loved her.
Marcella is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Vance, son, Stephen Vance, and her brother, Charles Milar.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Douglas N. Vance, daughter, Lois J. (Charles) Blackburn, her sister, Marylou Green, 7 grandchildren, Charmaine R. Oiler, Amy (Ed) Haller, Stephen R. Vance, Jr., Weston Underwood, Kourtnie (Jon) Vance, Lindsay (Devin) Hazelwood, and Bryan (Avery) Vance, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchildren.
Marcella’s family would like all of her loved ones, family and friends to join them calling hours on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boyd Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. There will be an interment service immediately following the funeral ceremony at the Marion Cemetery. Pastor Kevin McCoy will be officiating all services.
