Marion – Margaret "Jean" Kuhn, 86 of Marion, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 at her home in Marion.
She was born January 1, 1935 in Elkton Michigan to Russell and EllaRose Grigg. Jean was the 10th or maybe the 11th of 13 children; a question fondly argued over with her twin sister Marguerite "June" Nichol. On September 2, 1950 she married Bernard "Joe" Kuhn in Elkton, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, and her son Jack Kuhn. Jean was survived by her four children Jeff, Jim, Jeanette, and JoEllen and was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren.
Jean was 4'10" of unbridled conversation and she never met a stranger who didn't quickly become a friend. Everyone was allowed to call her Margaret exactly once before she quickly corrected them to call her Jean or grandma depending on your age. She lived a life dedicated to those around her. With her husband Joe she enjoyed leisurely drives with a stop by the thrift store, and which usually ended up in Green Camp for ice cream. She kept an immaculate home and her optimistic, gentle demeanor could only be foiled by hanging curtains; an activity that would show her in possession of a vocabulary to make a sailor jealous. Those lucky enough to know Jean could rely on a phone call each Sunday to hear her latest news and learn about all the new friends she had made that week. Jean made a mean chocolate cake and the exact recipe of her Thanksgiving stuffing remains a mystery to this day. She loved sewing, reading, and playing a litany of classic country music.
A brief service will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Boyd's Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
