Marilyn Jean Jolley, 84, died Friday, November 26, 2021 at Presidential Post-Acute.
She was born January 23, 1937, in Alice (Gallia County) to Lyman E. and Isabelle (Cottrill) Long.
As a small child, she would go to Meeker and watch outdoor movies. It was there that she would meet the future love of her life, Arthur (Art) Jolley. It wasn’t until much later that fate would bring them together again and they would marry in October 1965 and spend 11 years together until his untimely death in 1976.
Before her retirement from J-Lenco, she worked several jobs to take care of her girls. Those include downtown GC Murphy and the Courtesy Inn. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting. After her retirement, she worked part time at the Tobacco Warehouse. Marilyn will be truly missed by family and friends.
Surviving are her 3 daughters, Rhonda Long, of Daytona Beach FL, Marsha Moore (Vince Thompson) of Richwood and Jennifer (Ricky) Miller of Marion. 6 grandchildren, Amber Bess, Chase Wilson, Travis (Tara) Daniel, Kendyl (Richard Drake) Cooper, and Sheldon & Sage Miller. 4 great grandchildren, Xander Carroll, Lucian Daniel and Axton & Aezlyn Cooper. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Thelma Fout, Shirley VanDorn and Joyce Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brothers, James (Jimmy) and Robert (Bobby) Long.
Friends and family may come to honor Marilyn’s life on Monday, December 6, 2021, from 12pm to 2pm at the Boyd Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021, at 2:30pm at the Grand Prairie Cemetery with Pastor Chris Plough officiating. Donations may be given in care of the Boyd Funeral Home in assisting with funeral expenses. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Jolley family.
