Mark Anthony Johnson passed away at the age of 68, on Saturday, October 3, 2025.
Mark Anthony was born May 15, 1957, to Ira Donald Johnson Jr. and Geraldine Johnson (Smith). He was born and raised in Marion, where he graduated from Elgin H.S. He then married the love of his life, Kathy Horner, in 1987 in la Rue, Ohio.
Mark was famous for his “Gift for Gab” and had a curious personality. He was known for taking a deep interest in the world and the people surrounding him. Mark never met a stranger. He was a well-known woodworker, creating several adored pieces for family, while also producing artwork from his love of painting. Mark had a love for the game of football and was the biggest Ohio State Buckeye fan. He had twenty-plus years’ work experience in Management/Safety through Premiere Contracting and the M.P.W. Company, in which both companies were contracted through Honda.
Besides his parents, Mark is preceded in death by his sister, Lea Ann Johnson, and grandson, Steven Horner.
He was very proud of his family, leaving behind his loving wife, Kathy Johnson (Horner) and children, son; Jamie (Lynette) Horner, daughter; Kelli (Sean) Snyder, brothers; Doug (Judy) Johnson and Brian (Jamie) Johnson, 7 grandchildren; Jay Horner, Robert Horner, Matthew Horner, Phillip Horner, Benjamin Horner, Kasee Snyder, and Kaiya Snyder, 4 great-grandchildren; Leon Horner, Ashley Horner, Varian Horner, and Jaina Horner.
The Johnson Family would like to send a special thank you to Tranquility Hospice for their excellent comfort and care provided for their loved one.
