Martha Lee ((Conant)) Jones

Martha Lee Jones (Conant), age 80, residing for the last 3 ½ years at The Wyndmoor of Marion, Assisted Living, and Memory Care, died on April 26, 2023, from recent heart complications and late-stage dementia.

Martha was born to Harold and Mabel (Ruth) Conant on August 14,1942, growing up in Marengo and Edison, Ohio. She married Robert (Bob) Jones in Monroe, Michigan, on June 23, 1962, and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Jane (Bruce) Levering, and brothers, Milton (Butch) (Jean) and George (Terry) Conant. She is survived by her children, Kevin (Kristan) Jones of FishHawk, Florida, Karen Jones of Essex, Ohio, and Christopher (Linda) Jones of Marion, Ohio, brother-in-law Richard (Cindy) Jones of Marysville, Ohio, and sister-in-law Connie (Bob) Fritz of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, nieces and nephews, Aaron (Angie) Levering, Amy (Raymond) Wells, Tracy (Angie) Conant, Michael Jones, Susan (Joseph) Kelly, Jeffrey (Michael) Burnside, and Steve (Lyn) Burnside. Martha was Grami to her grand and great-grandchildren, Cullen and Chloe Jones, Trevor, Spencer and Carter Jones, Elizabeth (Tony), Anastacia, Penelope Antjas, and Phillip, Kyle, Adam, Brenden, and Hayden Hennessy. Martha graduated in 1960 with the last graduating class of Edison High School. She held a number of secretarial positions, including HPM and CORE Systems in Mt. Gilead. In Marion, she worked for Marion Municipal Court and was a legal secretary for Wiedemann and Taube for 25 years. Over the years, she was a member of the Edison Alumni Association, the Morrow County Historical Society, and The Morrow County Chapter of Ohio Genealogical Society, ultimately adding the Conant Family to the First Families of Morrow Country. She was also a member of the Richland Road Church of Christ. She had many, many close friends, including Karen and Walter Benson, Gloria Wilson, and Terry Kerns. The Wyndmoor nurses, aides, Mrs. Byrd and John, were exceptionally kind and compassionate and made her life at Wyndmoor especially pleasant. ProMedica Hospice helped make her last days peaceful and comfortable for her and her children. 

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Boyd’s Funeral Home, Marion. Her viewing will begin at 10am, with a brief remembrance service at 11am. Following the service, a light lunch and time to remember Martha with family and friends will be held at Karen’s residence in Essex, Ohio. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Jones family.
