Martha 'Marty' Stewart

Martha ‘Marty’ Stewart, age 96, passed away at The Meadows of Marion on January 22, 2026. She was born on June 17, 1929 to the late John and Nora (Freeman) Scott in Ironton, Ohio.

Martha worked many different jobs that include Turoff’s, Corey Rubber Company, JCPenney, and Whirlpool where she then retired after 23 years. She was a feisty red head with a contagious laugh who was hard-working, fun loving and a wonderful mother, partner and friend. Outside of work, Martha enjoyed country music and dancing, playing bingo, traveling, and cooking and baking for her family and friends. 

She is survived by her four children, Diana (Jan) Peddicord, Debbie Miller, Phil Stewart, and Lori Stewart. Her partner and love of her life for 53 years, George Sandel. Her grandchildren, Richard (Cindy) Peddicord, Chris (Pam) Miller of Marion, and Lisa (Rusty) Cox of Marysville. Her 13 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Martha is preceded in death by her siblings James, Paul, Bob, Homer, Joe, Chuck (presumed) Scott and Esther Sparks. Her grandchildren, Randy Peddicord, Shelley Miller and her great great grandson Lincoln Mitchell. 

The family asks that any donations be made to Children’s Hospital and St. Jude’s Hospital.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Tranquility Hospice for assisting in her last year of care. 

Family and friends are invited to The Boyd Funeral on Thursday, January 29, 2026 for calling hours starting at 11am with the funeral service starting at 1pm with Chaplin Conrad officiating. Martha will then be laid to rest at Marion Cemetery.
