Mary L. Binkley

Mary Louise (Williams) Binkley, age 88 of Marion, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at her daughter’s home in West Columbia, SC. Mary was born May 19, 1935, in Gomer, Ohio to the late Luther Williams and Alberta (Allgire) Williams Smith.

She was a 1953 graduate of Gomer High School. On May 15, 1955, in Gomer, she married Harmon Franklin Binkley, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2019, in Marion, Ohio.

She is survived by her sons Steven (Toni) Binkley of rural Marengo, OH and David (Brenda) Binkley of rural Mansfield, OH; her two daughters Patricia “Pat” (Mark) Melton of West Columbia, SC, and Lisa Binkley of West Columbia, SC; her grandchildren James Binkley, Claire (Joshua) Brandyberry, Anna (Timothy) Ward, Todd Binkley, Ryan (Allison) Binkley, Matthew (Stephanie) Binkley, Lauren Binkley, Christopher (Stephanie) Hawkins and Hunter (Emily Garrison) Robinson; her great-grandchildren Quentin, Emma, Evan, Veronica, Aaden, Bentley, Lanson, Rion, Kathrine,  Rylee, and Miller; and her beloved feline “Kitty Kat,” as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by one brother, Richard (Sue) Williams of rural Columbus Grove, OH.  She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Debora Kay, and both sister and brother-in-law Margey (Robert) Alger.

Mary worked for ten years with her husband at the former Binkley Printing Company.

She retired from Wyandot Inc. She was a member of Salem Evangelical Church. She enjoyed fishing, day trips for lunch or ice cream, golf, and family events.  In South Carolina she enjoyed the help of her two daughters and the company of local family and friends, the family pets, birdwatching and the flower garden.

The family would like to acknowledge and say thank you to all the caregivers in both Ohio and South Carolina over the past 5 years who helped Mary through many levels of care with compassion, companionship, love, and friendship.

Friends and family may come to honor Mary's life on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 5pm to 7pm at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home in Marion, Ohio.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, starting at 11am at the funeral home.  Burial will follow service at the Pike Run Cemetery in Gomer, Ohio, at 2:30 pm.
