Mary Jo Swartz, a loving wife, mother, and grandma, passed away on her 83rd birthday, December 25, 2024. She was born on December 25, 1941, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Floretta (Bell) Berry. Mary Jo lived most of her life in Marion, Ohio. Mary Jo was a 1960 Harding Highschool graduate. During Highschool, she worked at May’s Jewelry store. Later in life, she drove a school bus for MARCA and as a caregiver for Rham. She volunteered at MedCenter as a Pinkcoat lady. On August 23, 1960, in Richmond, Indiana, she was united in marriage to Norman L. Swartz. They were married for 63 years.
Surviving are two children, daughter, Gail (Jerry), son, Dean, one brother, Bill Berry, granddaughters, Amy Carswell, Ashley Webber, Jessee Holbrook, and Kaylee Swartz, grandson, Doug Swartz, seven great-grandsons, and three great granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Doug Swartz, and her brothers, Jerry and Larry Berry.
Mary Jo will be remembered for her devotion and selfless care of her son, Doug, until his death in 2008. She had a passion for the care of the disabled.

A graveside service will be held at a later date. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to care for the Swartz family in their time of need.
