Maxine Audrey Rosebud Chapman

Maxine Audrey Rosebud Chapman, age 95, passed away at her home in Marion on Dec. 7, 2023.

She was born on Dec. 10, 1927 in Milton, W.Va., one of 16 children of Culvy Ivan and Alberta Wallace, 6 of whom survive her-Louise, Leon (Wanda), Shirley, Robert (Kay), Karla (David) and Larry.

In 1965 she married Earl Dennis (Jack) Chapman and began life as an army wife, living from N.C. to Calif. to Germany.  Mom loved children and gardens and baking.  For the rest of our lives, we will miss her brownies and peanut butter cookies and cherry pies.  We will miss her.

She is survived by her 3 children-Susan (Chuck) Conrad, Chris (Sheila) Chapman and Patrick Chapman as well as granddaughter Katelyn (Kyle) Moffatt and 4 beloved (and perfect) great grandchildren-Zeke, Karleigh, Zendaya and Natale.

A bright light in her life was friend and neighbor Therese Waddell and her children Nick (Katie), Neysa, Nathan (Krissy) and Mikala (Will) and their children. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack and infant daughter Cynthia.

Mom was almost 96 yrs old when she left us and yet she had a sister Louise, 100 yrs old who knew her from the very beginning of life.  Whether you’re born to them or you choose them, family is everything.
