Missionary Queen E. Benjamin, age 79, of Marion went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 7:28 AM from the Marion General Hospital. She was born to the late Cliff and Pearlie (Johnson) Pittman on June 22, 1941 in Green County, Alabama. Queen was a member of Mayes Community Temple and the Pastoral Aide Committee of her church. She was a substitute teacher at Mark St. Elementary School in her younger years and most recently worked in the housekeeping dept. at the Marion General Hospital before retiring.
Surviving are 3 sons; Robert Peters, Terrance Peters, & Tommie Peters all of Marion, OH., 2 daughters; Carolyn Totten & Marilyn Peters both of Marion, OH., a brother; Herman (Arnita) Pittman of Marion, OH., a sister; Sarah Jones of Spartanburg, S.C., numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren, and a host of nieces & nephews. Queen was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Richard, Cleveland, & Henry Pittman, & Tiotis Townsend, and 6 sisters; Rosie Brown, Rebecca Stewart, Bertha Lee Pittman, Mary Wright, Ruby Fleming, & Mellvina Pittman.
Relatives and friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Friday, July 31, 2020, from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM. Elder Shawn Jackson will conduct the funeral service with burial to follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Social distancing will be in effect with masks required and a total of 20 people allowed in the funeral home at any one time. Donations in Missionary Queen’s name may be made to Maye’s Community Temple.
