Mr. Robin Lee Zacharias, age 77, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on January 28, 2026. He was born on April 17, 1948, in Marion, Ohio, to Albert Zacharias and Evelyn (Augustine) Zacharias, both of whom preceded him in death.
Robin spent his youth in Marion and was a graduate of Ridgedale High School. In October of 1970, he bravely answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force, defending the nation as a SGT/Basic Airman and Jet Engine Mechanic, and serving in The Vietnam War, a commitment he carried with pride throughout his life. In 1974, Robin married the love of his life, Vicky Lynn Gier, in Kentucky. Their marriage was one built on love, loyalty, and devotion, and he cherished her deeply until her passing on March 30, 2021. Robin dedicated over 40 years of his working life as a machinist and assembly worker, spending his final 15 years at Nissan of London, Ohio, before retiring in 2015. He was known as a dependable, hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family.
To those who knew him best, Robin was a big kid at heart—happy-go-lucky, kind, and endlessly positive. He would give you the shirt off his back, even if it was worn so thin it was nearly see-through. Robin was a proud homebody, finding the greatest joy in the comfort of home surrounded by family. He loved to relax, enjoy a large meal, especially fried chicken, insisting his wife’s was the very best—and never minded eating McDonald’s every day. One of his favorite outings was the smorgasbord at Der Dutchman in Plain City, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Robin found simple happiness sitting in his chair with a bowl of popcorn, watching television and his favorite shows on Netflix. When he did venture out, he enjoyed camping, and he was a devoted animal lover, especially fond of dogs.
In addition to his parents and wife, Robin was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Zacharias.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Todd Lee (Jamie) Zacharias, sisters; his sisters, Linda (John) Brown, Patricia Miller, and Karen Branch, his beloved grandchildren, Wesley Zacharias and Gracee Nicole Zacharias; his special brothers-in-law, who were more like brothers, Sheldon L. Gier and Jason (Linda) Gier; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday, February 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at La Rue Cemetery, with Pastor Josh Franks officiating.
