Ohmer Eugene Swart, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Marion General Hospital on January 9, 2025. He was born on June 7, 1931, to the late Henry & Hazel Swart in Dayton, OH. He graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton, OH. He was a Navy Veteran, serving in Bermuda when he met his wife, Jean Keadle. Ohmer and Jean lasted 68 years until she passed in 2021. After serving his country, Ohmer was called to be a minister and went to Gulf-Coast Bible College in Houston, TX. He served at numerous churches during his 53 years as a pastor of the Church of God. He attended Dayspring Wesleyan Church in Marion. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunted mostly for deer and turkey. He also was a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Ohmer was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Wilma Roethler and Betty Rector, brother, Wavel Swart.
He leaves behind his son, David (Lisa) Swart, daughters, Vickie (Harold) Rorick, Joyce (Rory) Brown, his 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren that he loved dearly, and many friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dayspring Wesleyan Church. There will be visitation prior to the funeral service on Friday, January 17, 2025, also at Dayspring Wesleyan Church from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service starting at 11 a.m. There will be a procession to the Grand Prairie where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife. Pastor Chuck Osborne will be officiating all services. There will be a celebration of life meal held at Dayspring after the graveside service. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Palliative Care Team, while at the Marion General Hospital, and the Boyd Funeral for caring for Ohmer.
