Oliver Hardman, Jr., age of 70 Of Pickerington, Ohio, gave up his spirit at his home surrounded by family on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
Dad was born in August, Georgia on February 6, 1952, the son of Oliver Hardman, Sr. and Rosella Bolton.
Oliver accepted Christ in his early years at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marion, Ohio and in later years he attended the Vineyard Church.
Oliver Hardman, Sr. moved his family from Georgia to Marion, Ohio seeking a better life for his family. Dad attended and graduated from Marion Harding High School 1970.
Dad played extremely well and above average in basketball for Harding High School. After high school, he attended Urbana University under a basketball scholarship. After a basketball injury, he began his 50 plus year career with Columbia Gas now called NiSource and retired in April of 2021.
Oliver took pride in his physical appearance and enjoyed music and dancing. Although Dad had 2 left feet, he enjoyed learning the latest dance moves and even won 2nd place at “Night Moves” in a local dance contest.
Dad also played softball for JB All-Stars for 5 years and JC Ratliff’s softball traveling team for 7 years.
Many people in Marion knew/know the Hardman name and move called him Ollie. Dad served his community and devoted 26 years as the Head football coach of the Browns (Marion Midget Football) and won many championships. He also was the assistant coach for Marion Catholic football team for 4 years. Oliver was honored with several awards for his service and accomplishments towards the city of Marion.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Nikkeia Hardman, Olivia (Michael) Spikes, Aisha (Eddie) Smith. 3 sons: Quatrell Hardman, Oliver M. Hardman, Bryceson (Sarita) Lawrence. Deceased: Orlandus Hardman. Brother William Bolton, 17 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren. A host of other relatives and friends.
Friends and family may come to honor Oliver’s life from 11am to 12pm on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will start at 12pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow service at the St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hardman family.
