Orville Allen Wing, 80, of LaRue, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025. Born in Coolidge Arizona on August 16, 1944, to the late Lois Leslie Wing and John Wing, Orville lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family. Orville graduated from Glendale Mortuary College in Glendale, California in 1961 and went on to work at a local funeral home where he provided care and compassion to families during some of their most difficult moments. On November 28, 1972, Orville married the love of his life Linda Sue Childers, in Marion, OH. He served his community as a Marion City fire fighter for 20 years. He also worked part time for many years at the Boyd Funeral Home for which we are grateful for his help.
Orville enjoyed working around his property—finding peace and fulfillment in maintaining the land, gardening, and taking pride in the work of his own hands. Throughout his life, Orville had the opportunity to travel to many places, creating cherished memories and collecting stories along the way. Whether near or far, he appreciated the chance to experience new things and share those experiences with the people he loved. Orville was also an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing, but nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether it was sharing stories, attending their events, or simply being present, he treasured every moment with them. In addition to his love for his family, Orville was deeply passionate about genealogy and leaves behind a wealth of information and records for future generations.
Orville’s life was defined by service, family, love, and a strong connection to both his community and his home. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. He is survived by his wife, Linda, sons, Orville “Allen”Wing Jr., and Michael A. (Donna) Bridges, daughter, Angela S. Meade, brothers, Kent and Brent Wing of Utah, David Wing of Arizona, sisters Debbie McRae, and MaryAnn Carter of Arizona, along with 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Orville was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Wing.
