Oscar Ridenour Obituary

Oscar Edmund (Ed) Ridenour, age 93 of Marion, entered into the Lord’s presence Monday evening, April 26, 2021, at Marion General Hospital. He was born on July 1st, 1927 to Oscar Ridenour and Edna (Behr) Ridenour in Ecorse, MI. He was raised primarily by his grandparents, Joseph and Lulu (Clapper) Ridenour in Delphos, Ohio. In 1945 he graduated from Marion Harding High School and joined the U.S. Navy. He was an American patriot and served actively in the Pacific War Zone until June 1946 when he was Honorably discharged. He recently participated in one of the WWII Honor Flights to Washington DC.

On May 30, 1947, Oscar Edmund and Catherine Jean Armendinger were married and remained so until her death in 2008.

Oscar held many positions in his working career at companies such as Tecumseh Products, Coca-Cola, McMillen Feed, Marion Power Shovel and The Fairfield Engineering Company. At Fairfield he held positions in manufacturing, engineering, construction field service and customer service, and “retired” after 39 years. However, he continued providing field service work parttime for a number of years after retirement. He took great pride in his many skills, especially, construction work. He helped build 4 houses for people in the family and numerous projects for his church. He loved his family and his family loved him. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing. With a deep devotion to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, he served various ministries at Richland Road Church of Christ. He served his country, his family and his GOD. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Preceding him in death are his grandparents, parents, wife, and his brother Robert W. Ridenour.

Oscar is survived by his son; Dennis (Karon) Ridenour of Waldo, OH and his daughters; Deb (Amos) Hatch of Loudon, TN, and Brenda (Tim) Lee of Cave Creek, AZ, his grandchildren; Brett (Mary Ann) Hatch of Granger, IN, Jeffrey (Erin) Hatch of Winston-Salem, NC, Erin (Jared) Sweitzer of Paradise Valley, AZ, Dana Lee of Irvine, CA, and Meghan Lee of Washington, D.C., and his 5 great-grandchildren.
