Pearl Lyons Obituary

Pearl (Moore) Lyons, age 93, passed away at her home on April 14, 2025. Pearl was born on May 24, 1931, in Inez, KY., to the late McKinley and Ora (Fannin) Moore. Pearl would marry her first husband Donald Chaffin, and they would remain married until his passing in June of 2002. Despite the hard loss of Doanld, Pearl would find love again when she married George E. Lyons. Again, the two would have a happy marriage until George passed away in 2022. Pearl was a hard worker and retired from the Community Medical Center after 18 and a half years in their housekeeping department.

God came first and Foremost in Pearl’s life and her love for Jesus Christ was evident to everyone she came in contact with. She was a proud member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Marion, OH. Pearl loved good food and sharing meals with family and friends. Her favorite thing to eat was banana pudding. After Christ, Pearl loved her independence and despite her age of 93 had only stopped driving a few weeks before her passing. Her family would often ask to help her with her daily errands and Pearl refused any assistance because being able to take care of herself was very important to her. Family was also very important to Pearl, and she loved all of her children but had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All that was needed to get a smile on Pearl’s face was to show her a picture of one of her grandchildren.

Pearl is preceded in death by parents, husbands, George and Donald Sr., son Donald Jr., a brother, 3 sisters and 4 daughter, Nyoka Sly, Donna K. Rose, Juanita Moore, and Gayla Rattliff.

Left to cherish the memory of Pearl are sons, Teddy G. (Mary) Lyons, Mark (JoAnn) Lyons, and Jerry E. (Melissa) Lyons, daughter Debra L. (Dale Loyer Sr.) Johnson, brother John Moore, sister Rispy Jane Stepp, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation of Pearl on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 5p until 7p at the First Freewill Baptist Church on Crissinger Rd. in Marion.
