Randy Eugene Hensel

Randy Eugene Hensel, 69, of Marion, OH, passed away at his residence on April 20, 2024. On April 26, 1955, he was born to his late parents, Lowell Hensel and Gloria Postell, in Marion, OH. In 1998, he became a father to his pride and joy, Thaddeus, with Veronica Vandayburg. Randy worked at the Marion Power Shovel when it was here in Marion. Once that was closed, he was the manager of the Marion Racquet and Athletic Club for 30+ years. He also had a job at Hampton Woods, taking care of their pool. He was a sports enthusiast through and through. He loved baseball, especially the Yankees. He was very involved with Pleasant High School where was on the chain-gang for many years. He played fast-pitch softball for 14 years and loved to golf. He also enjoyed going to the Marion County Fair and taking his family down to Columbus for a Columbus Clippers game. Randy truly aspired to be his son Thad’s biggest supporter during sports, and could be seen in the stands cheering him on and giving advice while he played and coached.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, and his first son, “Baby” Hensel (1984).

He is survived by his son, Thaddeus (Addison Ackerman) Hensel, his sisters, Tanya (Craig) Markley, and Sara (Mike) Lindsey, brother, Mike Hensel, nieces and nephews, Kara Markley-Sterling, Ryan Hensel, Lauren Thomas, Zachary Hensel, Taylor Tobias, and Ashleigh Lindsey, numerous cousins, his special friend, Marilyn Riley, and his dog, Smalls.

The Hensel family would like to invite Randy's loved ones and friends to join them for calling hours on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boyd Funeral Home. The funeral service will start at 1 p.m. There will be an interment service at the Pleasant Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Officiating all services is Tom Hypes. Memorial Contributions can be made out to on his behalf to the Bucyrus Athletic Boosters, specifically the Varsity Baseball fund.
