Richard L. (Dick) Johnson

Richard L. (Dick) Johnson, age 81 of Marion, passed away on December 1, 2023 at the Presidential Nursing Care Center

Dick was born on October 25, 1942 to the late William and Ora (Morris) Johnson,

Dick worked for 32 years at the Marion Power Shovel up until their closing in 1997.  Then he went on to work for 20 years for By-Line Transit, Inc. to his retirement.  Dick was a faithful member of Victory in Truth Ministries in Bucyrus, Ohio.

On February 28, 1965, Dick married Almedia M. (Linda) Crabtree Johnson, who preceded him in death on March 16, 1996.  During their marriage, they were blessed with a son, Lonnie R. Johnson, whom preceded them in death on July 16, 1987 at the young age of 17.  As Dick always said God blessed him with two wonderful wives.  He married Annette (King) Johnson on September 28, 1995, who survives him.

Dick’s hobbies were watching NASCAR and football on TV.  His most favorite thing was his fishing trips with his fishing partner, Annette and who could catch the biggest fish.

Dick cherished his fur babies, Hopey, Tinkerbelle and Grace.

Dick will be sadly missed by his wife, Annette; his daughter, Amy (Josh) Ware of Brentwood, Tennessee and his son, Robert (Kellie) Spenard of Hobart, Indiana; his sister, Janice (Jack Bess) Brammer of Cardington, Ohio; his brother, Ronald (Helen) Johnson of Wyandot, Ohio; his brother-in-law, Raymond Crabtree; his grandchildren: Austin Ware, Olivia Spenard and Benjamin Spenard; his bonus grandchildren, Korina and Felicity Stewart of Marion and his great-granddaughter, Blakelynn; and his many nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his mother and father, William and Ora Johnson; his first wife, Linda Johnson and his son, Lonnie R. Johnson; his brother, William Johnson and his brother-in-law, Carl G. Brammer.

The family would like to extend a special, “Thank-you” to his doctors, Presidential Care Center and Heartland Hospice for his wonderful care.

Friends and family may come to honor Dick’s life from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, December 7, 2023 and Friday, December 8, 2023 from 12pm to 1pm at Victory in Truth Ministries, 485 State Route 4, South, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. A funeral service will start at 1pm on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the church. The family has requested no graveside services.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Marion Area Humane Society, 2264 Richland Road, Marion, Ohio 43302.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Johnson family.
