Richard E. Thibaut (Dick), age 74 of Morral, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 4, 2022.
Richard was born in Marion on November 28, 1947 to the late Robert L. and Betty M. (Starner) Thibaut. He was a 1965 graduate of Ridgedale High School. On September 10, 1983 he married Deborah, the love of his life from a blind date which was set up by his best friend.
Dick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1967 – 1971, which included a tour in Vietnam. As an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist, he took great pride in his occupation and continued his love of aircraft of all types. He retired from Eaton-Dana-Sypris after 43 years of employment as a Maintenance Mechanic. He enjoyed looking through the lenses of his camera, sailing and kayaking with Deb, and never missed a sporting event played by his daughter, son and grandchildren. Many nights spent under the lights at the ball field as a member of the Marion church softball league and a member of Masonic Lodge of Dunkirk. He was also a prominent citizen in the community as a Salt Rock Township Volunteer Fireman of 20+ years along with serving on Village Counsel. He also participated in developing the Veteran Memorial Park of Marion. Dick’s orneriness will always be remembered as it brought a smile to your face, his kindness and love would leave an impact lasting a lifetime, and was loved by so many.
Survivors include his forever love, Deborah L. (Halsey) Thibaut of Morral; sister, Sharon Leach of N. Canton; daughter, Stacy (Scott) Blizzard of Arlington; son, Eric Davis of Larue; grandchildren, Makaleigh, Evan and Noah; great-grandchild, Demirose. He was also loved very much by his brothers-in-law, Ron, Don (Julie), Bryon (April), along with his extended family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Boyd-Born Funeral Home in Marion, Ohio with a visitation beginning at 11 AM. Contributions in Richard's name may be made to The Salt Rock Volunteer Fire Department.
