Richard (Dick) A. Johnston

Richard (Dick) A. Johnston, age 76 of Ostrander, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family.

Dick was born on February 26, 1946 to the late Norwood and Lois (Evans) Johnston in Marion, Ohio.  On September 29, 1973, he married Vickie Hayman in Jellico, Tennessee.

Dick was raised and baptized in the Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church in Marion, OH. Over the course of his life, he was on the Richwood Bank board, London Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce in Plain City.  He owned and operated several convenient stores and the Smart Oil Distribution Company.  Dick will truly be missed by family and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Norwood, Bill, Dan and Bob Johnston.

Those who will cherish his memories include his wife of 48 years: Vickie Johnston of Ostrander, Ohio; his daughters: Jenny (Mike) Buzek of Fort Mill, South Carolina and Maggie (Jason) Walker of Plain City, Ohio; his sister: Harriett Lenhart of Midlothian, VA; his brothers: Joe Johnston of Marion, Ohio and Steve (Barbara) Johnston of Marion, Ohio; and his six grandchildren (Taylor (Casey) Bloise, Tori Walker, Emily Walker, Grace Walker, Gabbie Walker and Macie Buzek.

Friends and family may come to honor Richard’s life on September 30, 2022, visitation from 1-3pm at the Marion Naz, 233 West Church Street, Marion, Ohio 43302. A memorial service will follow starting at 3:00pm at the church with Lt. Col. Guy Klemanski officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Richard’s memory to the Salvation Army, 317 W Church St Marion, OH 43302 and/or Loving Care Hospice of Marysville, 779 London Avenue, Marysville, Ohio 43040.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.boydfuneralmarion.com.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Johnston family.
