Rita Ann Long

Rita Ann Long, age 73, passed away on October 26, 2025, at the Meadows of Marion in the comfort of her family’s love. Rita was born in Marion, OH, on October 6, 1952, to her late parents, Charles Willam Blankenship, Jr. and Mary Edna Gray Blankenship.

Rita graduated from Ridgedale High School and attended The Ohio State University for one year. She was an assistant manager for K-Mart for 20 plus years before retiring. Rita lived for 18 years in Marysville, before coming back to Marion. She attended the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marysville frequently. Her faith also turned into a hobby where she collected over 200 angels. Rita lived for family and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and other crafting activities. She also liked playing cards and bingo. She was the Euchre Champion at Meadows of Marion. She also loved her OSU Buckeyes and was a huge fan.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Linda Edington.

She leaves her legacy behind for her son, Michael (Jennifer) Steven Long, daughter, Mary (Corey) Ann Shreve, her brother, Thomas (Pam) William Blankenship, sister, Sandra (Doug) Roszman, Brother in law Mark Edington, grandchildren; Samantha (Seth) Inskeep, Ashely (Jon) McMaken, Austin (Samantha) Long, Christopher Long, Zayne (Sarah) Shreve, Makayla (Grant Dailey) Shreve, and her great grandchildren; Mandi, Steven, Teddy, Grayson, Andre, Conen, and Mason.

The Long Family would like to invite Rita’s loved ones and friends to the Boyd Funeral Home for calling hours on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Boyd Funeral Home at 11 a.m. There will be an interment service immediately following the funeral service on Saturday, at the Green Camp Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in Rita’s honor.
