On October 17, 2024, Robert (Bob) Gene Bish went to be with the Lord. Bob was a life-long resident of Marion County. He was born to the late Ralph and Vera Ruth McClaskey Bish on Nov. 25, 1936 where he grew up on a farm. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany prior to working for the Marion Power Shovel until it closed in 1997. While working there, he started his own business trenching and plumbing. Bob loved the outdoors was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved working with his hands and was what you would call a "Jack-of-all-Trades". It seemed as if there was nothing he couldn’t fix or build. Later he became a trustee for the Green Camp township, and was known to take immaculate care of the cemeteries; this was a staple for Bob. He went on to own the New Bloomington Post Office, and took pride in caring for the old building along with the two apartments there. He spent the past 5 years living at Kingston where he always enjoyed visits from family and friends and going for drives in the country, especially during harvest. He was a member of The Prospect Street UMC as well as a lifetime member of the NRA and the Meeker Gun Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beverly Jean Bish and his first wife, Phyllis Ann Bish. Left to treasure his memories are his four children ,Terri Hendricks (Rick Jackson), Tim (Jackie) Bish, Lori (Jeff) Williams, Jennifer Bash, three step-children, 10 Grandchildren, 16 Great-grandchildren and brother, Kenneth Bish.
A family viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 25, 2024 at The Boyd Funeral Home. A graveside service at the Marion Cemetery will be held at 1:00 p.m. following the viewing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Capital City Hospice or the Veterans Affairs (VA). Any memories or condolences may be made on the Boyd Funeral Home Tribute wall.
