Robert Eugene Bonsel

Robert Eugene Bonsel, age 71 of Marion, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at The Arthur G. James Cancer Clinic. Columbus, Ohio after a courageous battle with multiple cancers. He was surrounded by his loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy and live life to the fullest.

Robert was born on December 1, 1952 to the late James and Marilyn (Rollison) Bonsel in Marion, Ohio.

Robert served our country in the United States Marines. He retired from Silverline Windows (Anderson) in 2019 after 16+ years of service. He enjoyed doing crosswords, gardening, working in the yard, doing construction work and remodeling, walking his dog Benji, working on his car, and spending time with his grandkids. Also, in earlier years he loved to skate at Rollerama skating rink. Every weekend he would take his kids to teach them his same skills. He did this amazing waltz on skates. Crystal and Robert shared this waltz together. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and his dog Benji.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Bonsel.

Those who will cherish his memories include his daughter, Crystal (John Thacker) Bonsel of Marion, Ohio; his son, Jeremiah Bonsel of Marion, Ohio; his brothers: Scott (Debby) Pickens of Morral, Ohio, Ronald Bonsel of Marion, Ohio and Chris Bonsel of Chino, California; his sister, Brenda (Robert) Johnson of Port Charlotte, Florida his grandchildren Mason, Cambren and Chance

Friends and family may come to honor Robert's life from 12pm to 1pm on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Boyd Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow starting at 1:45pm at Grand Prairie Cemetery with the Marion Area Veterans Council conducting military honors at the cemetery.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Bonsel family.
