Robert Nunnally Jr. Obituary

Robert Lee “Bob” Nunnally, Jr., 68, of Westerville, OH, went to setup the stage for his heavenly celebration on December 8, 2024. He was born on August 28, 1956, to the late Robert Lee Nunnally, Sr. and the late Edith Russell, in Marion, OH.

Bob’s voice and charisma has maintained a strong presence in the central Ohio area for over 40 years. He joined the WNCI radio station in 1977 (known as “Big Bob” or “Large Robert”) and went on to deejay for WSNY/Sunny 95 in 1983, working there for 14 years. On the radio waves, Bob served as music director and assistant programming director. His presence on WCMH4 began as a substitute weathercaster (1994 – 1997) produced for Columbus’ WB affiliate. Bob became a full-time weathercaster for WCMH4 in late 1997. Bob stayed with WCMH4 for over twenty-five years. Although Bob left Marion, Ohio to pursue his broadcasting career, he continued to serve the Marion community in multiple capacities. He was the emcee for the Miss Heart of Ohio Contest, Miss Teen Pageant, Marion Popcorn Festival and in the past, was on site at WMRN to welcome “Buckeye Chuck” on Groundhog Day. His popularity (with over 4,600 Facebook followers) ensured any event he participated in would be a great success. Giving back to the community he so appreciated, Bob served on the board of several local charitable organizations, including the YMCA, Arthritis Foundation, Life Care Alliance and the Jingle Bell Run. In his free time, Bob was an avid movie goer (never missing an action hero movie), comic book lover, and music lover. Earlier in Bob’s life he was a talented sketch artist, known for sketching comic book heroes and creating his own comic strip featuring a character he created as a child, which he named
“Packy”. He also was an advocate for animal adoption, partnering with many animal adoption agencies throughout central Ohio.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Pauline Jones.

He is survived by his Goddaughter, Sarah Williams, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
