Roger Keith Hunter, age 81 of Meeker, went to be with the Lord, peacefully surrounded by loving family, May 3, 2022, at 3:13 a.m. in Marion, OH.
Roger was born in Oak Hill, West Virginia, January 27, 1941, to the late Beaulah (Treadway) Hunter and Claude Hunter.
Roger loved spending time with friends and family. He was always joking and teasing. His favorite answer to any question was, “It’s okay.” He loved working in his garden and around his yard as well as volunteering in the Meeker Community Garden. Roger taught his sons to hunt, garden, and about the Lord. Roger loved spoiling his beloved dog Coco.
July 9, 1965, Roger married the love of his life, Edith “Jo” Toney. She survives.
Roger is survived by sons David (Cathy) Hunter of Meeker and Scott (Paulette) Hunter of Meeker; grandchildren Nicole (Shawn Harvey) Lorenzo of Prospect, Kristina (Jason) Ervin of Kenton, Shawn (Taiza) Hunter of Marion, and Faith (Alec O’Brien) Hunter of Marion; nine great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Dorris (James) Connors of Scarboro, West Virginia; a very special nephew, Cecil (Shannon) Puckett of Prospect; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Roger was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Earl; three sisters, Nada (Paul) Puckett, Rosemary Jeffery, and Sadie “Doodle” (David) Atkins; and a brother, Jerry Hunter.
The family would like to thank MGH emergency room staff and MGH ICU staff, with a special thanks to RN Brock of ICU, Dr. Michael McCleese, Dr. Srinivas Ravi, and Dr. Jackson Liu.
Graveside services will be held at Frame Cemetery, Meeker, on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 2 pm with Pastor Kathy Herr officiating.
