Ronald Leslie Montgomery

Ronald Leslie Montgomery, age 83, a lifelong resident of Marion, passed away on September 30th at Marion General Hospital. He was born on June 1,1938 to the late Ray A. & Deloris (Lewis) Montgomery

Ron was a 1956 graduate of Harding High School. On December 6, 1959 he wed the late Linda Lee Franklin. They shared over 60 years of marriage.

Ron retired from GTE where he worked as a lineman before advancing to become an instructor. Ron was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Marion & Caledonia. He was a member of the Moose & Eagles. Ron loved the great outdoors, he and his family enjoyed camping in various areas around the country. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his many fishing trips to Canada with his friend's. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts as a leader for years. Ron was the type of person we should all strive to be like, he was kind, patient & generous. He was a man of few words but his actions and how he lived his life spoke volumes.

Left to cherish his memory are his 3 sons: Ronald L. Montgomery II (Doris Johnson) of Marion, Ray A. (Jacquee) Montgomery of Prospect & Randy L (Tracy) Montgomery of Marion. 9 grandchildren: Amber Brammer, Ryan (Teresa) Montgomery, Ronald Montgomery III, Chelsey (Brad) Henning, Jennifer (Chad) Harrah, Walter Montgomery, Kori Montgomery, Josh Montgomery & Kaine Montgomery. 9 great grandchildren: Noah Claypool, Raidon Montgomery, Abbie Harrah, Tinley Montgomery, Kellen Montgomery, Lily Harrah, Kaydence Montgomery, Octavia Montgomery & Zarha Montgomery.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife Linda, both parents, a brother, Don Montgomery and a sister, Joann Gorenflo
