Rosemary Waits Obituary

Rosemary Waits passed from us on November 9th, surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born December 22, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio to George R. and Essie (Cochran) Duty.  Her parents preceded her in death.  Rosemary is survived by her beloved husband and soulmate, Sammy L. Waits, of Marion, Ohio.

Also surviving are her son Jon Christopher (Jennifer) Andel of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and her daughter, Jennfer C. (Frederick) Snowden of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Thomas, Melanie and William Waits, all of Marion, Ohio.  Her granddaughters: April, Autumn, Olivia, Riley, Cori, Katie, Kimberly, Ashley, Amber, Tiffany and Kelsie.  Her grandsons: Ian, Trevor, Kyle, Mathew and Zachary.  Grandson William Waits Jr. preceded her in death.  A brother, Ray Duty, of Columbus, Indiana, his son John A. and daughter, JoAnna, also survive, as well as many cousins and great-grandchildren.

Rosemary grew up in the Green Camp area and attended Monnett School.  She began taking piano lessons at an early age and became a very accomplished pianist and also played the organ at church for many years.  She graduated from Mt. Vernon Academy in 1966.  Rosemary and Sam moved to the East Coast where she began an exciting career as a test route driver for Jaguar.  When they relocated to Columbus, Ohio, Rosemary worked as an office manager for McVay Ethan Allen for many years.  In her retirement, she enjoyed having “coffee talk” with her beloved family and friends, driving her grandchildren around on adventures in her Firebird and spoiling her cat, Sissy.  She will be remembered as a warm, gentle soul and forever loved and missed.

We will be honoring her memory on Wednesday, November 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Boyd Funeral Home, 122 W Columbia Street, Marion, Ohio.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with graveside services at Green Camp Cemetary immediately following.  Anyone who wishes to donate in her memory is encouraged to reach out to the Wyandot County Humane Society in Rosemary’s name.
