Russell (“Rusty”) Ray Hawkins, age 62, passed away on February 13, 2026, in the comfort of his home. On December 19, 1963, in Marion, OH, he was welcomed into the world by his late parents, Charles (“Cookie”) Ray Hawkins and Wilma (“Jeanie”) Jean Hayes. Married on June 2, 1989, Rusty and the love of his life, Janet Sue Hawkins, would spend 40 loving years together.
Rusty was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His life’s pursuit was to love and support his family and friends. Anyone who met Rusty knew his mantra: work hard and play harder. He worked for over 30 years in construction as a contractor for his own business, Hawkins Construction. When he wasn’t hard at work, Rusty would spend time fishing, cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals, and attending concerts with his family and friends. He also dearly loved his boxer dogs and would spoil them often.
Rusty is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randall R. Hawkins.
Left to continue his legacy are his wife, Janet Hawkins, sons, Christopher C. (Stephanie) Hawkins and Cody R. Hawkins, daughter, Ashley M. Hawkins, sisters, Deborah (Rick Jividen) Hawkins, and Deanna (Roy) Kepley, and his beloved grandchildren: Alexis and Alaina Folk, Grahm and Valyrie Hawkins, and his four-legged child, Riley.
The Hawkins family would like to invite all of Rusty’s loved ones and friends to join them at his Celebration of Life at Fable Bar & Co. on Thursday, February 19 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please feel free to bring pictures and stories to share with the family and in remembrance of Rusty.
