Russell Duane Miley

Russell Duane Miley, age 92, of Marion, passed away on December 19, 2025, at the Kingston Residence of Marion. Russell was born in Morrow County, OH, to the late Oscar and Edith (Alspach) Miley on November 1, 1933. Russell graduated from Waldo High School and married the love of his life Janis Mae Adams on February 19, 1952, in Auburn, IN.

Russell was a man of faith and conviction. In his younger years, he started his career as a carpenter and home builder for Jim Weaver as lead finish carpenter. He then began a 24-year period where he honed his craft and passion for construction and building. Russell would go on to be the owner operator of Miley’s Insulating Service for over 20 years. He was a big sports fan of the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes (especially basketball). In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring Ford Model A’s and Model T’s. He was also known in his family as being an inventor and could seemingly fix anything. The things most important to him were is Christian faith and his grandkids’ sporting events.

Russell is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Richard Miley and Cecil Miley, and sister, Evelyn Seitter.

Left to Cherish the memory of Russell is his wife, Janis, of 73 years, sons, Terry (Debby) Miley, of Virginia Beach, VA., and Michael (Patty) Miley of Marion, OH., daughter, Bonnie (Phil Sparks) Miley, of Marion, grandchildren, Andy (Carrie) Granger, April Miley, Sara Miley, Amy (Paul) Iler, Lindsey (Clint) Field, Lori (Brian) Pickard, Jonathan (Hillary) Miley, and Joel Miley and 12 great-grandchildren.

The Family thanks tranquility Hospice and the Kingston Staff, especially Jana, Amy, Amanda and Alana for their excellent care.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., with the funeral starting at 11 a.m. at the Waldo Global Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Frazee and Mike Fogle are officiating. The committal service for Russel will take place at the Waldo Cemetery immediately following the funeral procession. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donation be made to the Waldo Global Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society in Russell’s honor.
