Russell E. Pyles, Sr.

Russell E. Pyles, Sr., age 90 of Marion, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Russell was born on August 18, 1933 to the late Wilbur and Ollie (Shepherd) Pyles in Gallipolis, Ohio.  On October 20, 1957, he married Beryl Haycook.

Russell served our country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.  He worked for Burns Security as a security guard for Quaker Oats for more than 20 years and then worked for Goodwill doing maintenance for 5 years.  He was lifelong members to the VFW Post #3313, Marion County Voiture Locale 48 of the 40 & 8 and American Legion Post #162.  He will truly be missed by family and friends.

Rusell was preceded in death by his parents, his grandchild, Shauna Simpkins and his sisters: Thelma Murphy and Patsy Morgan.

Those who will cherish his memories include his wife of 65 years, Beryl Pyles of Marion, Ohio; his son, Russell E. (Consuela) Pyles, Jr. of Groves, Texas; his daughters: Mary (George) Mahaffey of Marion, Ohio and Sandi (John) Brockman of Marion, Ohio; his brother, Earl Pyles, of South Portsmouth, Kentucky; his sister, Rose Childers of Phoenix, Arizona; his ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Friends and family may come to honor Russell’s life from 1pm to 2:30pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Boyd Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow starting at 2:30pm at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Hypes officiating.  A burial will follow service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the Marion Area VA Council doing military honors at the graveside.  Donations may be given in his memory to American Cancer Society, P.O.
