Ruth Ann Gamble, age 91, passed away at the Marion General Hospital on Sunday, January 25, 2026. On December 16, 1934, she was welcomed into the world by her late parents, Homer G. and Gertrude A. Fuller in Columbus, OH. Ruth would marry her first husband, the late, J.W. Kirkpatrick, Jr., in Indianapolis on August 13, 1960. J.W. would pass away on October 26, 1965. She would go on to get remarried to her second husband, Vearl A. Gamble, on October 14, 1972, in Marion at the Timothy Lutheran Church.
Ruth graduated High School from Shortridge High School in 1953. After that she would spend a year at Capital University. In her early years of employment, she worked at Manpower Temporary Office Agency, Actmedia, Inc., and later became a poll worker. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Her family and her faith meant everything to her. She was very active with her faith at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she attended Sunday School along with Worship, Women’s Bible study, and even helped with meals at the church after funerals. She also was involved with the Marion Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing Bingo, and going on trips. She helped with their Sentinel newsletter mailing committee. After that she volunteered at the Marion Palace doing office work and being on the mailing committee under the direction of Barbara Rech. Her husband, Vearl, was an avid Model Airplane flyer, and they enjoyed flying their model planes together. They also loved to take day trips on their motorcycle. She also really enjoyed and rooted for the Ohio State buckeyes football team every Saturday watched every game all season long for many years.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, brother, Paul H. (Margaret) Fuller, niece, Mae (Wendell) Sheffer and nephew, Herb (Carol) Fuller, her grandparents, and all her aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Vearl, three sons; Keith (Patricia) Kirkpatrick, Scott (Irene) Kirkpatrick, and Mark Gamble, her nephew, Walter (Lois) Fuller, several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The Gamble family would like to invite all who knew Ruth to the Boyd Funeral Home for calling hours on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a funeral service starting at 2 p.m. The burial will take place on a later date at the Marion Cemetery.
