Savie Kasotis Kleinerman Obituary

Savie J Kasotis Kleinerman, age 91, died peacefully on Friday, November 12, 2021, following a long, hard-fought battle with chronic heart and kidney disease.

She was born March 18, 1930 in Marion, Ohio, to James Kasotis and Dorothy Kasotis Davis who emigrated from the island of Samos, Greece.  She graduated from Harding High School in Marion, Ohio. She learned how to work hard at an early age by helping at her mother’s Crest Restaurant in Marion.

Savie was always stylish with a passion for fashion. She enjoyed modeling sportswear for large department stores in Columbus, Ohio.  She later developed secretarial skills and became the Secretarial Office Assistant at American Homecraft in Marion.

On February 8, 1958, she was joyously united in marriage to Paul Allen Kleinerman, owner of American Homecraft.  Paul first met Savie as a frequent customer of the Crest Restaurant where she often served him meals.

Savie resided in Marion where she enjoyed raising her family and was actively engaged in community services. She was a member of Temple Israel in Marion and contributed generously to many charitable organizations. She enjoyed serving as a volunteer for the Marion County ISD, the Marion County Board of Elections and was a proud member of the Marion Greek Ladies Club, the Marion Artisans Guild, as well as the Marion Garden Club and the Marion Country Club. Savie received many awards and recognition for her community participation.

In 2004 Savie relocated to Coppell, Texas, where she became a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and an active member of the Coppell Senior Center where she cultivated many friendships and served several years as an executive board member.

Savie is survived by her Daughter and her husband Jamie and Ed Levine, Coppell, TX; Son Joseph Kleinerman, Eden Prairie, MN; Son and his wife Greg and Pam Vlachos, Thousand Oaks, CA; her Brother and wife George and Joan Kasotis, Marion, OH; Nephew Kris Kasotis, and five Grandchildren Lauren and Alex Levine, Nicholas, Athena, and Amara Vlachos.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband Paul Allen Kleinerman, Daughter Theodora Christopher, Nephew Aris Kasotis, and Granddaughter Alyssa Vlachos.

Savie lived a life filled with joy surrounded by family and friends. She loved to socialize and engage with people. She befriended all who knew her. In her last few days she was ready to join Paul, who remained the true love of her life.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the owners and caregivers of Nana’s Place in Coppell, especially Jan Leathers and Ruth Hogan and Grace Gacheru, who took special care of her for the last three years, and who cried with us at her passing,

There will be a service at the Boyd Funeral Home in Marion, Ohio, December 3, 2021 at 1pm with burial at the Caledonia Cemetery in Caledonia, Ohio.   Please feel free to make donations to the American Heart Society, Kidney Foundation, North Texas Food Bank, or charity of your choice.
