Sharon L. Clutter, age 75, passed away peacefully on January 15th , 2025. She was born on September 7th , 1949, in Marion, Ohio to the late Evan and Anna (Sparks) Slane. She moved to San Diego, California with family when she was a young girl and spent many happy years there.
She became a homemaker who loved tending to her rose garden, feeding the hummingbirds, camping, riding her ATC in the desert, and hosting pool parties for her family and many dear friends like Duane and Alice. In 1992 Sharon moved back to Marion from Murrieta, California. She met the love of her life John “David” Clutter and they married on May 9th , 1994. Together they enjoyed fishing, going to auctions, feeding the birds and squirrels in their back yard, and spending time with their family. She worked many years at GTE/Verizon before retiring and working part time at the Salvation Army. Sharon loved scary movies, all things Elvis and Bigfoot, and anything vintage. She collected antiques for most of her life and was able to hand pick a few of her pieces for her granddaughters before her death. Sharon was sassy and fierce; she always looked fabulous. She took great pride in her appearance and could always be found in her high heels, but never found with a broken nail thanks to good friend, Jean Rowe. Sharon loved spending time at her daughter and son-in-law’s home fishing and cooking out with family and friends. Her greatest joy, however, came from the time she spent with her daughter and granddaughters going on day trip adventures to different festivals and roadside attractions, both in and out of Ohio.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Evan and Anna, her husband David, and their beloved dogs.
She leaves behind sons Dr. Steve (Ruthie) James and Mikel Anderson, daughter Courtney (Jeff) Davis, brothers Larry Slane and Terry (Marybeth) Slane, grandchildren Maddison, Emmerson, Laura and Eric, nieces Leeann, Meghan, Aimee, and Erin and many cousins, including Ron (Jill) McQuerry.
The family gives a special thanks to Melissa and the rest of her Compasses team for their care, love and support. The family will be having a private celebration of life at a later date, but condolences can be offered online at www.boydfuneralmarion.com . The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Sharon in their time of mourning.
