Shelba Jean (Denney) Stoneburner, 88, of Marion, OH passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Shelba was born in Vinton County, OH, to the late Ernest and Stella (Thacker) Denney on July 3, 1936. On July 24, 1954, Shelba married the love of her life Delbert Stoneburner and the two remained married until his passing earlier this year on January 14, 2024.
Shelba was a high school graduate who worked for 20+ years for GTE as a secretary in their security department. She and her husband were snowbirds and they nested in Florida every
winter. She loved to be her husband’s co-pilot as they would fly around on trips together. She loved gardening and yardwork but was known most for keeping a very clean house. Shelba loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them whenever she could.
Shelba was preceded in death by, brothers, Emory Bryan and Ronald Denney, and sister Glenna “Nadine” Baker.
Shelba is survived by her son, Jeff (Dee) Stoneburner, daughters Peggy Stoneburner (Mike Wiseman), and Penny (Richard) Woy, brother Ernest (Norma) Denney, sister-in-law, Shirley Denney, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give it special thanks to the Marion General Hospital ICU staff along with the staff at Kingston of Marion for all of their love and kindness during the these tough times. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Shelba in their time of mourning.
