Susan Monroe Obituary

Susan Jean Monroe, age 85 of Lakeland, Florida passed away Thursday March 26, 2026.  Susan was born May 25, 1940 in Marion, Ohio to the late Don Clarke and Clara(Sally)Clarke.  She graduated from Harding High School in 1958.  In 1964 she married Larry Robert Monroe who passed in 2023.  She was proceeded in death by her sister, Kathleen Stithem.  Her brother Richard Clarke of Marion, survives.  She is survived by her daughter Debbie Reeverts and grandson Cody Reeverts who reside in Lakeland, Fl.

Susan was a waitress for over 20 years and she worked at Whirlpool for 10 years from which she retired.  Susan found happiness in the simple treasures of life-especially her beloved dogs and a good garage sale.  Saturday mornings she set out to her sales to find a hidden gem and converse with strangers who soon became friends.  With the treasures that she found she was able to have her own business, buying and selling gold which she continued to do up until she passed.  Her home was always filled with at least 2 dogs as she loved their loyal companionship, and they were treated just like family members.

Susan was a member of Marion First Church of the Nazarene.  She loved to sing in the choir and continued to use her gift when she moved to Florida.  She attended Venice Church of the Nazarene where she sang and acted in several drama productions.  She regularly visited nursing homes where she sang for the residents.  Her final church home was First Alliance Church in Lakeland, Fl where she made many friends and continued her love of singing.

Friends and family may come to honor Susan’s life on April 8th at 11AM.  A graveside service will be held at Marion Cemetery.
