Terry Oran Tewell, age 79 passed away on November 11, 2021, after a sudden and brief fight with cancer. Terry was born in Utah on November 14, 1942, to parents Oran Tewell and Evelyn (Bernard) Tewell, both deceased. Terry was one of three siblings. He had two sisters: Charlotte Hernandez (deceased) and Patricia Robinson, who currently resides in Florida.
Terry retired a few years ago after 30 years with the State of Ohio as a Maintenance Supervisor at Marion Correctional Institution. Terry was an accomplished painter and illustrator. His musical skills made him somewhat of a local celebrity, performing with numerous local bands and church groups over the years. His interest in photography allowed him to share his love of natural scenes, wildlife, and family with anyone interested. Terry's love of sports combined with his artistic talent provided him the opportunity to photograph local high footballers, the River Valley Vikings, on many occasions. He was an avid reader of history, science fiction, intrigue, and loved westerns, in particular. Terry was especially known for his singular wit, always quick with a funny remark or joke. His skillful use of humorous word play suckered many people into his web of riveting stories punctuated by ridiculous puns. Terry's passing will certainly be felt by many for some time to come.
Terry is remembered and survived by his Brother-in-Law, Alex Hernandez, and Terry's two sons, Christopher Tewell, with wife Shari Arrigo-Tewell, and Tim Tewell and his wife Lisa Tewell. Grandchildren surviving are August Tewell, Edison Tewell, Emily Tewell, and Nicholas Tewell. Close friends of Terry included Guy Campo, Bob Shaw, and Gil Dorf, all of whom receive the deeply heartfelt thanks of the Tewell family for all the kindness and support they've shown.
A memorial/remembrance event will be held in Terry's honor at Boyd Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia St. Marion, Ohio 43302, Tuesday, November 23, 2021, 1 PM-3 PM.
