Valerie Curran Obituary

Valerie Jean Curran, age 62 of Caledonia, is resting at the feet of Jesus after passing away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. On February 14, 1959, she was born to the late Larry and Carolyn (Smith) Bryant in Marion, and on April 28, 2001, she married her loving husband Dave Curran.

Valerie worked as a medical receptionist at Smith Clinic for 12 years. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1977. She loved antique shopping with her husband and long rides in the car to see what restaurant or shopping they could explore, and she loved the color purple and anything Elvis.

Anyone who knew Valerie knows that her family was her everything and her children and grandchildren were her proudest accomplishment. She was also known for her beautifully decorated home and how she would be sure you were always fed. She was a kind, genuine soul who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband Dave Curran; her 3 children Krista (Bill) Davis of Spring Hill, TN, Benjamin (Angela) Little of Green Camp, and Candee (John P.) Slimak of Columbia, TN; her grandchildren McKenna, Branton, and Grey Davis, Nolan and Gracie Little, Kyndal Bowersmith, Hayden Campbell, and John, Tim, and Jack Slimak; her sisters Cherie (Lew) Hilgenberg and Shannon Bryant; her nieces Caitlyn (Daniel) Stevens and Kimberly (Paul) Reed; and her nephew Lewis (Becky) Hilgenberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents Larry and Carolyn Bryant, her sister Carol Emptage, and her nephew Stephen Ulery.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 9 am to 11 am at the Cornerstone Alliance Church, 2010 Marion-Marysville Rd., Marion. Services will take place at 11 am at the church. The family asks that attendees wear purple in Valerie’s honor. Burial will follow at Caledonia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home to cover funeral expenses.
