Vickie Ross (Russell) Hay

Vickie R. (Russell) Hay, age 66 of Prospect, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Marion General Hospital. Vickie was born May 1, 1954 in Columbus, Georgia, to Sarah (Compton) Russell and the late Odis Russell, and on March 20, 1982, she married her husband Floyd Hay in Wise, Virginia.

Vickie was a homebody, and she loved her pets and maintaining a tidy home. She was known to have a green thumb, growing her own vegetables and flowers, and she was also a wonderful cook. She enjoyed the outdoors as a girl. She loved her family and the Church of Christ. She worked for Clorox for over 20 years.

She is survived by her husband Floyd Hay; her mother Sarah Russell; her sons Jimmy (Christine) Buttrey and Donald Gene (Tammy) Hay; her daughters Tammy Cassidy and Mindy Hay; her brother Kenneth (Tammy) Russell; her sister Jane (Larry) Clarke; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Odis Russell.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Boyd Funeral Home. Services will take place at 1 pm at the funeral home, with Terry Francis officiating. Burial will follow at the Marion Cemetery.
