Vida (Bentley) Adkins-Rose born on August 19, 1926 to Ben and Emily Bentley in Pike County, Kentucky. She left her earthly home on May 11, 2024.
Vida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, her sons, Randy Adkins and Richard Adkins, her grandson, Jimmy Adkins, her brothers: Foley Bentley and Olaf Bentley, and her sister, Vada Dennis.
Vida is survived by her children: Faye Coleman of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, Bobbie Jean (Joe) Lemasters of Prospect, Ohio, Perry (Becky) Adkins of Houston, Texas, Dallas (Linda) Adkins of Houston, Texas, Bruce Adkins of Bartlett, Tennessee and Jayne Bush of Marion, Ohio; her sister, Vicie Smallwood; her 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Bucyrus, Ohio. Vida loved her Lord and Savior. Her faith inspired many in her family to follow in her footsteps in serving God, she was the rock of her family and a safe place for the broken and downtrodden. She was a strong woman and a trailblazer for the women in her life. She truly was the Good Samaritan, who left no one by the wayside.
Let her sing now with the angels in Heaven as she sang to many of us with her sweet voice of love and understanding.
Come and join her family and friends to honor her and all she accomplished in her 97 years on this earth on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 2pm to 4pm at Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 starting at 1pm at the funeral home with Reverend Joshua Millington officiating. A burial will follow the funeral service at Grand Prairie Cemetery. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Rose and Adkins family.
