Walter J. Mahler

Walter J. Mahler, age 80 of Marion, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at his residence. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Walter was born on August 26, 1941 to the late Henry and Dorothy (Betz) Mahler in Marion, Ohio.  On July 25, 1998, he married Loretta Scroggins in Marion, Ohio.

Walt retired from Parker-Hannifin after working 42 years. He enjoyed watching truck pulls and going snowmobiling.  He will truly be missed by family and friends.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife: Janice (Coffman) Mahler and his step-son: Keith Combs.

Those who will cherish his memories include his second wife: Loretta Mahler of Marion, Ohio; his son: Brian (Deborah) Mahler of Marion, Ohio; his daughters: Sandra (Mark) Medina of Columbus, Ohio, Kristin (Melvin) Schank of La Rue, Ohio; his step-sons: Tim (Robin) Combs of Marion, Ohio, and Ken (Danielle) Combs of Bainbridge, Ohio; his step-daughter: Tami Masters of Dayton, Ohio; his sister: Jean (Bill) La Roche of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; his fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Friends and family may come to honor Walt’s life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 11am to 1pm at Boyd’s Funeral Home in Marion, Ohio. A funeral will follow starting at 1pm at the funeral home.  There will be several immune compromised people in attendance, the family has requested to please be respectful to wear a mask for the visitation and service.  Burial will follow the funeral service at Caledonia Cemetery.  Donations may be given in memory of Walter to Kindred Hospice, 1199 Delaware Ave. Ste. #102, Marion, Ohio 43302.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Mahler family.
