William “Bill” Michael Bowman, 61, lifelong resident of Marion, OH, passed away comfortably in the care of the Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, OH. His late parents, William L. Bowman and Starling Graybill, would welcome him into the world on August 8, 1964, here in Marion.
Bill worked for Wyandot as a production operator for 18 plus years. Before that, he would graduate from Marion Harding High School. Along his journey through life, he would find his true love, Carol Bowman, and they would get married in Marion, in 1988. Anyone who knew Bill knew one of the most positive people you could ever meet. He always brought out the best in someone, whether he meant to or not. He loved to spend his free time up at Lake Erie at his camper, surrounded by his campground family. He would acquire the name, “Buckeye Bill”, due to his bar that he built at the campgrounds named, “The Buckeye Bar on The River”. It goes without saying that he was a huge OSU Buckeye fan. He also enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Bengals. Other activities that he liked to do included fishing, hunting, or just being outdoors. His dogs were also a huge part of his life, and they were his four-legged children. All-in-all, Buckeye Bill was bigger than life.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jeff Bowman.
Left to keep The Buckeye Bar on The River going is his wife, Carol Bowman, his brother, Richard “Rick” (Cindy) Bowman, sister, Vickie (Doug) Swihart, lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, and all of his campground family.
The Bowman family would like to invite all who knew Buckeye Bill to join them in celebrating a well lived life at the Boyd Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18, 2026, for calling hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Boyd Funeral Home on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family to help them out in their tough times.
